The Bible Talks about ABORTION.
(Abortion:  An ending; a termination;  a cutting short).


ABORTION OF A HUMAN:
(The abortion or cutting short that is concerned here is the ending,
terminating or cutting short of a living organism, a human being, in a
mother's womb.
The deliberate cutting short of the life of a living organism in a womb is a
killing.  The Bible has much to say about such a killing).


AN ABORTION HAS THREE ELEMENTS:

1).  A living, growing organism in a mother's womb; a developing child.
2).  A mother-to-be who does not want her child and is willing to kill the
child before it is born. She may hire someone to do the killing.
3). Someone who does the killing and makes the mother a party to murder.

(If the pill known as RU-486, or something similar to it, comes into use,
the mother can become the executioner of her own child).


CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING BIBLICAL PASSAGES REGARDING CHILDREN:

A).  Children are a gift of God:
PSALM 127:3  "Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of
the womb is His reward".
(Abortion destroys a possession of the Lord and snubs His reward.  See
BT#43, "Baptism.")




B).  GOD HAS A PART IN FORMING THE UNBORN CHILD:
PSALM 139:13, 14  (David is praising God) "For You have formed my inward
parts; You have covered me in my mother's womb.  I will praise You, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul
knows very well."


OUR BODY IS NOT TO DO WITH AS WE PLEASE.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:19, 20. " Or do you not know that your body is the temple of
the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your
own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and
in your spirit, which are God's."


KILLING A HUMAN IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE TO GOD.
LEVITICUS 24:17  "'Whoever kills any man shall surely be put to death."
(Although the Law was fulfilled by Jesus, this passage does show God's
attitude toward murder and God's attitude doesn't change).


DOES THE FOLLOWING VERSE SPEAK OF THOSE THAT DO THE ABORTIONS FOR A FEE?
Deuteronomy 27:25  "'Cursed is the one who takes a bribe to slay an innocent
person."


IF NOT ABORTION, THEN WHAT CAN THE UNHAPPY MOTHER DO?
QUESTION:  "I'm pregnant.  I don't want this child.  If abortion is wrong,
what can I do?
ANSWER:  "Give birth to the child.  Put the baby up for adoption.
Prospective parents are waiting to adopt available babies."


IF YOU HAVE HAD AN ABORTION AND NOW REALIZE ABORTIONS ARE WRONG AND FEEL
GUILTY:
QUESTION:  "I had an abortion. I realize my error and am sincerely sorry.
Can God forgive me?
ANSWER:  There is no sin so great that God cannot forgive except the sin of
blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.  (See BT#23, "Forgiveness.")
1 JOHN 1:9 " If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
