All rights reserved. The Bible Talks about THE SOUL. WHAT IS THE SOUL? (The soul is the real you that continues to exist after the body dies. It is a separate entity that is united with the earthly body and and makes itself known through it while the body is alive. In the Bible, "soul" and "spirit" are sometimes the same thing. In addition, the word "soul" refers to a person, as "two souls were present" and sometimes "soul" refers to a life force that gives the body life. But the following passages clearly show that the soul is the real you, working and living through your body) GENESIS 2:7 "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." 2 CORINTHIANS 5:8 "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." REVELATION 6:9 "When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held." THE BODY IS A TEMPORARY CONTAINER FOR YOU, THE SOUL. GOD COMPARES YOUR BODY TO A TEMPORARY SHELTER, A TENT. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens". 2 PETER 1:13, 14 "Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me." THE BIBLE CLEARLY INDICATES THAT THE SOUL IS A SEPARATE ENTITY THAT LEAVES THE BODY WHEN THE BODY DIES. THE BODY DIES, YOU CONTINUE TO LIVE. GENESIS 35:18 "And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni; but his father called him Benjamin." MATTHEW 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." LUKE 12:20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?" LUKE 23:43 "And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." (His body would die. He, the soul, would continue to live). 2 CORINTHIANS 5:8 "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." EVERY SOUL BELONGS TO GOD. EZEKIEL 18:4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die." IN TIME, YOUR DEAD BODY WILL RETURN TO LIFE AND BE RAISED EVEN AS CHRIST AROSE IN THE BODY. JOB 19:26 "....and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God,..." ISAIAH 26:19 "Your dead shall live; together with my dead body they shall arise...." HOSEA 13:14 "I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be yourdestruction!...." JOHN 5:28 "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice..." 1 CORINTHIANS 15:52 " in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." PHILIPPIANS 3:21 "... who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself." BODY AND SOUL, REUNITED, WILL BE IN ETERNITY EITHER IN HEAVENLY JOY AND BLISS OR IN A PLACE OF PAIN AND DARKNESS. FOREVER IN BLISS AND JOY. MATTHEW 25:34 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:..." ROMANS 8:18 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." 1 PETER 1:4 "... to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,..." FOREVER IN PAIN AND DARKNESS. MATTHEW 23:33 "Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?" MATTHEW 25:41 "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:..." MATTHEW 25:46 "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." LUKE 16:23 "And being in torments in Hades, ..." YOU ARE IN ETERNITY NOW. YOU WILL NEVER DIE.
