He took on Himself your penalty (the second death) for your sins so that you will not have to suffer eternal punishment). ISAIAH 53:4,5. "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." TITUS 2:14 "....who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." WHY WAS IT NECESSARY FOR HIM TO SHED HIS BLOOD? FOR TWO REASONS: 1). FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF YOUR SINFUL CONDITION:-. ROMANS 5:9 "Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." EPHESIANS 1:7 " In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" HEBREWS 9:12 "Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption." 2). TO RATIFY (Approve and legalize) THE NEW COVENANT GIVEN IN JEREMIAH 31:31 AQND REPEATED IN HEBREWS 8:7-12. LUKE 22:20 "Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you." HEBREWS 9:18,19. "Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,..." JESUS CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED AND BURIED ON THURSDAY, NOT FRIDAY MATTHEW 12:40 "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.". (If Jesus was crucified and buried on a Friday as tradition has it, then He would have spent only two nights in the earth, not three.) Jesus was buried the day before a Sabbath, alright, but it was not a usual Saturday Sabbath. This particular week had an extra special Sabbath that fell on Friday. So Jesus was indeed buried the day before a Sabbath but it was a Friday Sabbath. A Thursday burial would then mean Jesus did spend three nights in the grave. Tradition is wrong). THE GOSPEL OF JOHN CLARIFIES THIS UNUSUAL SITUATION JOHN19:31 "Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away." (Note it was a "high" day. A special Sabbath).. MARY MAGDELENE CAME AFTER THE SATURDAY SABBATH. MATTHEW 28:1 "Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb." (Mary came Sunday morning after the normal Saturday Sabbath). ON THE THIRD DAY, JESUS AROSE FROM THE DEAD TO LIVE AGAIN, A VICTOR OVER DEATH. MATTHEW 28:6 "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." ACTS 1:11 "....who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." JESUS AROSE IN HIS BODILY FORM BUT NOW ALSO HAD THE ABILITIES THAT BELONG TO A SPIRIT. (As any human being, Jesus ate, could be seen and could be felt, but Jesus could also pass through doors and become invisible at will which only a spirit could do). LUKE 24:39 "Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have." LUKE 24:42,43 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence" JOHN 20:26 "And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!" (We, too, will be like Jesus!). JESUS' DISCIPLES AND MANY OTHERS SAW HIM AFTER HIS RESURRECTION. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:6 "After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep." JESUS ASCENDED TO HEAVEN IN HIS BODILY FORM SO THAT HIS DISCIPLES COULD SEE HIM RISE. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:6 "After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep." JESUS WILL RETURN IN LIKE MANNER IN HIS BODY SO THAT EVERYONE WILL SEE HIM RETURN. ACTS 1:11 "...who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." REVELATIOPNS 1:7 "Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, and they also who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen." AMEN.
